RANDY BLYTHE's Brother: 'We're Hoping For The Best'
June 30, 2012"We're all concerned about him. We're hoping for the best," Mark Blythe, the brother of LAMB OF GOD singer Randy Blythe told WTVR-TV, the CBS television affiliate based in Richmond, Virginia, on Friday (June 29).
Czech police spokeswoman Jana Rosslerova told the Associated Press that that a court is set to rule today (Saturday, June 30) on whether to continue detaining Randy in connection with the death of a fan more than two years ago.
Rosslerova said that Blythe was arrested Wednesday, accused of causing bodily harm resulting in death — a crime punishable by up to ten years in prison, according to popular Czech news web site Novinky.cz.
Blythe, 41, is reportedly accused of causing the fatal injury that occurred at LAMB OF GOD's May 24, 2010 show in Prague. The singer apparently either pushed or struck the fan who had come on stage, and that person later died.
According to WTVR-TV, another Czech online news site, Aktualne.cz, has published statements from a witness — a friend of the victim — who said the fan wasn't using drugs or alcohol and fell back directly on his head. The victim lapsed into a coma and died weeks later.
LAMB OF GOD was scheduled to perform on Thursday at the Rock Café in Prague with SKELETONWITCH and ALL SHALL PERISH but that show ended up getting canceled.
LAMB OF GOD's publicist, Adrenaline PR, issued a statement yesterday stressing that "under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved [during LAMB OF GOD's 2010 concert]. This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head."
