REBELANGELS Pull Back Demo Recordings, Rework Band's Musical Direction
October 24, 2005REBELANGELS vocalist Erik Hagsted (a.k.a. Legion; ex-MARDUK) has issued the following statement regarding the band's previously released demo recordings:
"We have decided to pull back the demo recording we made earlier this year since we feel that the end result does not cut it. REBELANGELS is still too young and in need of workovers and additional influences to be ready to see the light of day as a ready to go act.
"Since this summer we have been working over the musical direction to be more suiting for all of us and to come up with a blend of sounds that we feel we can perform on top of our game where the feeling is really there when we play it. A lot of exciting things are happening at rehearsal right now and we'll put new clips on display at the [official] website in the months to come."
In other news, Legion and his wife will become parents for the second time in mid-November. The couple, who have a 16-month-old boy, are expecting a baby girl.
REBELANGELS is the new California-based project formed by Hagsted and bassist Roger "Bogge" Svensson (a.k.a. B.War; ex-MARDUK). The group's demo, which was recorded at Endarker studio in Norrköping, Sweden, featured a guest appearance by session drummer Kleist from the band BREWMASTER. The group's official drummer, whose identity has yet to be revealed, has a contract to fullfil and will join the band for the recording of the group's debut album, tentatively titled "Savage Kind of Grace". Other songs that were recorded during the session were the album's projected title cut, "Savage Kind of Grace", and "Lesser Innocence".
REBELANGELS' current lineup also features a guitarist by the name of Jimmy, whose playing style is said to be "heavily influenced" by James Hetfield, "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and Zakk Wylde.
Hagsted and Svensson had previously described REBELANGELS as "a dark, heavy rock band with big heavy riffing and normal, raw vocals."
