REKUIEM Begins Recording New Album
July 18, 2009REKUIEM (formerly REQUIEM),the cult NWOBHM band that was at the very start of the British metal movement alongside such names as DIAMOND HEAD and WITCHFINDER GENERAL, has issued the following update:
"At last, the studio recording of the new REKUIEM album, 'Raise The Dead', is underway. Pre-production, which has taken a lot longer than anticipated, is finally complete. The new songs are sounding good and everyone in the band is excited to be making the new record."
Commented guitarist Steve Slater: "It's taken me quite a long time to get these new songs together, longer than I'd have liked, but it's important to me that this new record is every bit as good as the last and in taking the time hopefully I've achieved something that's gonna be good for the long-term future of my band."
The upcoming REKUIEM album, "Raise the Dead", will feature singer Chitral "Chity" Somapala (ex-FIREWIND),who joined the band in 2007.
In 1980, REQUIEM issued its first and last single, the self-financed "Angel of Sin" on Sacrificial Records. The single was backed by "Sacrificial Wanderer" and was issued without a picture sleeve. It is now incredibly rare and somewhat of a collector's item for NWOBHM fanatics.
REKUIEM's debut album, "Time Will Tell", was released in 2006 via Majestic Rock.
