REQUIEM LAUS Hard At Work On 'The Eternal Plague'
February 27, 2007Funchal, Portugal's REQUIEM LAUS has signed a personal management contract with Theresa Aldao and Bryan Hilyard's artist development company Strictly Heavy Management (SHM). SHM has been managing rock and metal bands with exclusive worldwide contracts since 1995.
REQUIEM LAUS formed in 1994 under the name REQUIEM and released its first demo called "Life Fading Existence". "For Ones Who Died" followed in 1996 and became a cult item on the underground tape-trading circuit. Then, after a hiatus, 2000 saw the birth of "Through Aeons", which catapulted the band to the forefront of the Portugese metal scene.
REQUIEM LAUS performed throughout Portugal for two years, playing significant shows with AVULSED (Spain) and several Portuguese local bands like HUMANART, MYSTERIUM, KORMOSS, CYBORIUM DE PROFUNDIS and more. They ended up headlining many of these shows to lots of fanfare and support.
In 2006, REQUIEM LAUS released a brand new five-song CD, simply titled "Promo 2006". The new release not only features the aesthetic of death metal, but also elements of Middle Eastern composition and the ethereal quality of symphonic black metal. The band goes for melody and atmosphere over punishing brutality. A new full-length CD, entitled "The Eternal Plague", is in the works for a 2007 release.
