Reunited TORA TORA Announces Hometown Show

January 2, 2009

Reunited late '80s/early '90s Memphis, Tennesse-based rockers TORA TORA will play a one-off show in their hometown at the New Daisy Theater (330 Beale Street) on Saturday, March 7. Support at the gig will come from STIFFKITTY. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 9 and will be available online through the New Daisy web site.

Tracey Lukasik of Glam-Metal.com conducted an interview with Anthony Corder (vocals) and Patrick Francis (bass) of TORA TORA at last year's Rocklahoma festival, which was held July 9-13, 2008 in Pryor, Oklahoma. Watch the 15-minute chat below.

TORA TORA's lineup for Rocklahoma 2008 included all four original members:

Anthony Corder - Vocals
Patrick Francis - Bass
Keith Douglas - Guitar
John Patterson - Drums

TORA TORA started out as a local garage band then eventually got studio time when they won a local Battle of the Bands contest. Following this, the band recorded "To Rock To Roll" as an independent EP. After its release, the songs "Phantom Rider" and "Love's A Bitch" received extensive airplay on local radio station Rock 98. A deal with A&M Records followed, and the band recorded its debut album, "Surprise! Attack", in 1989. This LP peaked on Billboard's Top 200 at #47. The single "Dancing With A Gypsy" was on the soundtrack for the film "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" later that year. In 1992, TORA TORA's second album, "Wild America", was released. It only achieved #134 on the Billboard chart and it did not sell as well, but it was a more mature step at songwriting. A third album, "Revolution Day", was recorded in 1994, but it was never released due to label restructuring.
