ROB ZOMBIE, ALICE COOPER, MURDERDOLLS: Complete 'Halloween Hootenanny Tour' Dates
August 9, 2010Back by popular demand, masters of the diabolical ROB ZOMBIE and ALICE COOPER will reunite for the "Halloween Hootenanny" tour featuring the Gruesome Twosome with special guests (and Zombie's Roadrunner labelmates) MURDERDOLLS. The tour kicks off in Los Angeles at the Gibson Amphitheatre on Thursday, September 30 (please see below for tour dates). The pair shared the stage for a highly successful, sold-out limited North American run earlier this year and have long been fans of one another, as well as good friends. The Billings Gazette declared, "Thousands of fans got the show of a lifetime...With elaborate multimedia stage shows and classic fist-pumping anthems, both artists brought much more to the stage than their music...the multi-sensory experience of the show will likely not be forgotten." Charlotte's Creative Loafing stated, "Zombie was a wildman — running around stage, flipping his hair in every way and stomping away to rev the crowd into a frenzy...Two fantastic performances..." Drummer Joey Jordison will be doing double-duty on the dates, playing drums with ROB ZOMBIE, as well as playing guitar with his own band, special guests MURDERDOLLS.
In other Zombie news, fans will soon get the ultimate interactive experience as their hero is joining forces with Universal Studios Hollywood to create the new 3D maze, "Rob Zombie's House Of 1000 Corpses: In 3D ZombieVision". As part of the Halloween Horror Nights event, fans will be treated to a nightmarish world of carnage and chaos Rob Zombie-style based upon Zombie's cult hit film "House Of 1000 Corpses". Vampire buffs also got a treat when the track "What" from Rob Zombie's latest release "Hellbilly Deluxe 2" appeared in an episode of the smash HBO series "True Blood".
Zombie enthusiasts can also look forward to the release of the special edition of "Hellbilly Deluxe 2". Set to street on September 28, it will feature three brand new tracks called "Everything Is Boring", "Michael" and "Devil's Hole Girls And The Big Revolution", as well as a reimagining of "The Man Who Laughs". In addition, the package will include a brand new video for "Mars Needs Women" (shot during the Gruesome Twosome tour with ALICE COOPER),a live version of Cooper's classic "School's Out" with Cooper and a 30-minute DVD featuring a tour documentary entitled "Transylvanian Transmissions", along with all-new expanded artwork.
Dennis Dunaway, the original bass player of the Alice Cooper group, announced during an interview on WJCU's "Metal On Metal" radio program with host Bill Peters that he and fellow original Alice Cooper group member Neal Smith (drums) are going to be working with Alice on material for the legendary rocker's new studio album, the sequel to "Welcome To My Nightmare".
During the June 19 press conference at the Hellfest in Clisson, France, Cooper stated about his plans for the upcoming record, "I'm very happy with working with [producer] Bob [Ezrin] again. It's 'Welcome 2 My Nightmare', and it's the next nightmare. Thirty years later, he has another nightmare, and this one is even worse than the last one.
"I [hadn't] worked with Bob in a long time. After the 35th anniversary of 'Nightmare', I said, 'Why don't we start writing something else?' And he said, 'Why don't we just do part two?' We'd never done part two, so I went, 'That's a great idea. Let's get me and you together, I think we can still get Steven Hunter and Dick Wagner. We'll put some of the original people on it and add some new people."
When asked what the next album will sound like and if the goal to simply "revisit the past," Cooper said, "I didn't think that we could recreate the sound, but the first three things we did are identical to that era. In fact, we purposely added a few '70s things to it to give it that '70s sound. Without even trying, it sounded just like 'Nightmare'. If we can keep that going, it will really be something. It captures an era."
MURDERDOLLS' new video, "My Dark Place Alone", was filmed with director Paul R. Brown, who has previously worked with SLIPKNOT, MÖTLEY CRÜE, KORN, GODSMACK and AVENGED SEVENFOLD, among others. The song comes off the band's sophomore album, "Women And Children Last", which will be released on August 31 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded at a studio in Hollywood Hills, California with producer Chris "Zeuss" Harris (HATEBREED, SHADOWS FALL, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD).
