ROB ZOMBIE Says He 'Had No Choice' But To 'Let The Fans Down'

Rob Zombie has apologized to his fans for pulling the plug on his band's headlining performance this past Sunday night (July 20) at Rock Fest in Cadott, Wisconsin because he was suffering from a throat ailment.

Zombie's appearance at the event came to an end after only two songs when the singer told the festival crowd there was "no way" he could finish the gig and walked offstage to a chorus of disappointed groans.

In a posting on his Facebook page earlier today, Zombie wrote: "I am very sorry to everyone who was at Rock Fest.

"Believe it or not, this is the first time in 29 years I have not been able to finish a show.

"I have played through many many nights with a fucked voice.

"I knew [my voice was shot] backstage, but came out and tried anyway, but failed.

"I understand people are pissed, but what can you do?

"It is easy to say, 'Man up and just do it,' but when no sound is coming out, there is nothing you can do.

"If you have ever lost your voice before, then you know it doesn't magically return just because you want it to.

"If there was a way to do the show, I would have done it, as I have many, many times before. Fuck, I done shows where I walked to the side of the stage between songs to vomit I was so sick.

"Whatever. I'm not looking for sympathy and I don't expect anyone care, but these are the facts.

"As far as everyone yelling, 'I've been a fan for 20 years and now I fucking hate you! you pussy rock star!' What can I say?! Fucking shitty stuff happens sometimes. I tried explaining it into the mic before I left the stage, but I could barely croak out a word.

"Do you think there was any upside to that show for me? Nope, it's all a big fucking mess that I wish never happened. We are trying to figure out a time and place to make it up to everybody.

"I don't take the fans for granted and I don't take this situation lightly. My goal is to never let the fans down, but on that night I did. Unfortunately, I had no choice."

Zombie also posted a photo of his inflamed throat, which you can see below.

Zombie's first-ever concert film, "The Zombie Horror Picture Show", came out on May 20. The set features Zombie leading his band through longtime favorites like "Living Dead Girl", "More Human Than Human" and "Dragula". The movie was filmed during stops on last year's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival tour in Houston on August 3, 2013 and Dallas on August 4.

A photo book by photographer Rob Fenn is being published as a companion to the Blu-ray and DVD.

Zombie has also been working on a new studio album, telling Billboard, "It sounds fuckin' weird man. That's a really good thing… It's going good. I'll work on that for about a month and get as far as I can get. Then in July we have a little bit of a break where I'll probably finish the record, and then we have some more touring."

Zombie's fifth solo album, "Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor", came out in April 2013.
