ROB ZOMBIE's 'Great American Nightmare' Culminates With Record-Breaking Night
November 4, 2013Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare closed out its 15-day run November 2 at the FEARPlex in Pomona, California with a record-breaking night for a stand-alone haunted house event in the United States. On Saturday night, over 8,500 people traversed the haunted house attractions at this ultimate Halloween music and horror event. The evening culminated with a headlining performance by Rob Zombie.
In addition to music performances, the fully immersive haunted house experience featured three attractions based on Zombie's own horror films: "The Lords Of Salem In Total Black Out", "The Haunted World Of El Superbeasto 3D" and "Haunt Of 1,000 Corpses".
"After 32 years in the haunted house business, the final weekend of Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare had the largest crowds I have ever witnessed," said haunted house producer Steve Kopelman. "We ran more than 8,500 people through the attractions on the final night.
"We are extremely proud of the event we built and the partnership with Rob Zombie, and look forward to 2014."
Despite the attraction's success, however, Zombie is doubtful whether something like the Great American Nightmare could stay open all year, saying, "I'm not really sure it could sustain over a year . . . When Halloween comes around, people are really ready to be freaked out. But in the summer time and Christmas time, I'm just not sure a Halloween attraction would be successful."
Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare was held every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from October 10 through November 2. The bone-chilling experience combined the most advanced haunted house attractions with a not-to-be-missed music festival from top artists in the realms of hard rock/metal, rock alternative, EDM, and Latin music. The Great American Nightmare's Bloody Boulevard offered outdoor screenings of classic horror films, a DJ, food vendors, beer, wine and spirits, with freak show characters roaming throughout the grounds each night. Each ticket included access to all haunted house attractions, concerts and Bloody Boulevard activities.
