ROBERT PLANT Set For ARTHUR LEE Benefit Concert
May 5, 2006Launch Radio Networks reports: Robert Plant and Ian Hunter have signed on for a benefit concert for psychedelic rock icon Arthur Lee. Lee, who in the late '60s led the band known as LOVE, is battling leukemia, and proceeds from the event will be used to help pay his medical bills — since, like most working musicians, he doesn't have health insurance. The show takes place June 23 at the Beacon Theater in New York City, and it will also feature David Johansen and Garland Jeffreys, among others. Tickets go on sale next Friday (May 12).
There's also talk of a similar event in Los Angeles in the coming weeks, but nothing's been confirmed yet.
LOVE is probably best remembered for their 1967 album "Forever Changes". In recent years, Lee had been performing the album in its entirety at his shows.
