ROBERT TRUJILLO: METALLICA Has 'A Lot To Offer For The Future'

September 16, 2008

New Zealand's 3 News has posted video footage of METALLICA talking to the media in Berlin this past Friday, September 12 prior to the band's "Death Magnetic" record-release concert at O2 World.

Regarding how the making of "Death Magnetic" was different from what happened during the filming of the "Some Kind of Monster" documentary, drummer Lars Ulrich said, "It was just the four of us, there was no nine-camera film crew, there was no psychiatrist over in the corner, there was no hand-helding producer, there was just a bunch of guys of a rock band hanging out in the same space together having fun."

He continued, "It's pretty much been that kind of vibe for the last couple of years, it's been really good, solid, everybody's kind of having fun. And it seems that everything that went on in that movie even though it's six, seven years ago it seems like longer, it's seems like a lifetime ago."

Regarding the songwriting process for "Death Magnetic", bassist Robert Trujillo said, "The creative side is super-strong. I mean, most bands that have been around twenty years plus, you know, they start to lose their creative side, and they're mostly banking on the catalog, so to speak. But the great thing about METALLICA now is that there's still...I feel that there is a lot to offer for the future, I don't think we're not going away that quick. Me might be in wheelchairs though."
