Rock Historian Seeking Help In Locating Club That Played Role In DEEP PURPLE's Formation

George Bowstead of Guardian-Series.co.uk reports: A rock historian needs help to find out more about the Ivy Lodge Club in Woodford Green which played a crucial role in the formation of DEEP PURPLE.

Simon Robinson is researching the history of the rock band whose hits include "Smoke on the Water".

He said: "In 1969 pop groups played there and in June that year, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore turned up at The Ivy Lodge Club to check out a group called EPISODE SIX.

"After the show he offered the singer and bassist, Ian Gillan and Roger Glover, a job in DEEP PURPLE, and within days the most famous line-up of DEEP PURPLE was complete."

Robinson is particularly interested to find out where the club was.
