ROTTING CHRIST Frontman's Injury Forces South American Tour Postponement

June 4, 2010

Guitarist/vocalist Sakis Tolis of Greek extreme metallers ROTTING CHRIST was involved in an accident in which he sustained injuries to his leg that will keep him glued to his bed for at least a month. Unfortunately, this means that ROTTING CHRIST has been forced to postpone its previously announced South American tour.

Commented Sakis: "As you all know, we were really looking forward to these shows and are gutted and very sorry we can't make it over, but we promise all our Latin American Hermandos that we will be back in October for an even more extended tour of your continent!"

French webzine Inwë[b]zine conducted an interview with Tolis on May 8, 2010 in Lyon, France during ROTTING CHRIST's European tour with BOLT THROWER. You can now watch the chat below.

"Aealo", the new album from ROTTING CHRIST, sold around 400 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 144 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Aealo" was recorded at Lunatach Studios in Katerini, Greece and features guest appearances by Greek-American vocalist Diamanda Galas and PRIMORDIAL frontman Alan A. Nemtheanga.

According to a press release, "Aealo" delves deeper than ever before into ROTTING CHRIST's Greek roots. Frontman Sakis Tolis explains: "'Aealo' is the transcription of an ancient Greek word into the Latin alphabet. It means thrashing, catastrophe or destruction and reflects the musical and lyrical content of the album.

"The concept of 'Aealo' deals with the feelings of a warrior during a battle, therefore the album's title bears this sense of anger, fear and grief."

Diamanda Galas makes an appearances on ROTTING CHRIST's cover version of "Orders from the Dead", from Galas' "Defixiones, Will and Testament" album, for which Sakis wrote new music.
