ROY Z Interviewed For K.K. DOWNING's Web Site

April 24, 2009

JUDAS PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing's Steel Mill web site has been updated with an exclusive interview with guitarist/producer/songwriter Roy Z who co-produced 2005's "Angel of Retribution", JUDAS PRIEST's first album in a decade and a half with Rob Halford on vocals.

Among other things, Roy talks about the mystery behind his last name, coming up through ranks in Los Angeles during the late 1980s, his first meeting with IRON MAIDEN's Bruce Dickinson, which led to a longtime creative partnership that has produced metal classics such as "Accidient of Birth" and "The Chemical Wedding", working with JUDAS PRIEST, HELLOWEEN, Sebastian Bach and Axl Rose, as well as his own band, TRIBE OF GYPSIES.

In related news, Roy Z's resurrected L.A.metal outfit DRIVER, is scheduled to play a warmup show with WARRIOR and LEATHERWOLF on Friday, June 19 at the Galaxy Theatre (3503 S. Harbor Blvd.) in Santa Ana, California before the band takes off for an exclusive European festival appearance at this year's Bang Your Head!!! in Balingen, Germany on Saturday, June 27. The band's live lineup will include Z, vocalist Rob Rock (IMPELLITTERI),drummer Reynold "Butch" Carlson (ex-JAG PANZER, TERRIFF),bassist Aaron Samson (ODIN),and keyboard player Ed Roth (GLENN HUGHES, RONNIE MONTROSE).

DRIVER's "Sons of Thunder" CD was released last fall via Metal Heaven in Europe and King Records in Japan.
