RUSH Frontman Talks About CLASSIC ROCK's 'Living Legend' Award (Audio)

November 10, 2010

RUSH will be honored with the "Living Legend" award at this year's Marshall Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards in association with Currencies.co.uk.

RUSH will collect the award tonight (Wednesday, November 10),with Alice Cooper hosting the event at London, England's Roundhouse venue.

Speaking to the BBC News, RUSH frontman Geddy Lee stated about the band's status as one of the most stable acts in rock history, "It's easier if you're a three-piece and you stay alive.

"We're pretty fortunate that we still like each other and we still have so much fun together. It's not a pretence," he continued.

"That's what fails a lot of bands. They really don't like each other anymore, their egos have clashed numerous times and they are just doing it to make some money."

Tonight's Marshall Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards will also see live performances for the first time in its six-year history, from ALTER BRIDGE, CHEAP TRICK and THE UNION.

The Classic Rock "Living Legend" award is bestowed on a rock act for their enduring influence and remarkable achievements in the world of rock music.

As one of rock's most influential bands, RUSH will be joining an illustrious list of previous legendary recipients such as Iggy Pop, Ozzy Osbourne, Jimmy Page, Alice Cooper and Lemmy.

RUSH's "Beyond The Lighted Stage" is also nominated for "DVD/Film Of The Year", along with "The Doors", "The Runaways", "Oil City Confidential" and "Saxon".

Scott Rowley, Editor-in-Chief of Classic Rock, said: "Ridiculously, RUSH haven't yet been inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame — so it's an honor to recognize their massive contribution to rock music at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour."

The nominations for the 2010 Marshall Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards in association with Currencies.co.uk were announced earlier this year, with AC/DC, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, Slash and KISS all battling it out with multiple nominations.
