RUSH: Video Tour Of NEIL PEART's 'Time Machine' Tour Drum Kit

On May 25, U.K.'s Rhythm magazine ventured to London, England to interview Neil Peart of Canadian rock legends RUSH for a forthcoming issue. In addition to speaking to Peart, Rhythm also headed to the stage of the O2 Arena for an exclusive tour of Neil's phenomenal "Time Machine" tour kit with his longtime tech Lorne Wheaton. Peart was interviewed for the Friday, June 17 edition of "George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight" (formerly "The Hour"). The program, which airs at 11:00 p.m. on CBC in Canada, is hosted by Canadian television and radio personality George Stroumboulopoulos. A clip from the episode, featuring Peart breaking down the band's classic album, "Moving Pictures", can be seen at this location.

"That was an important time musically and a great time for the three of us in terms of having a good time and sharing our goals and making music," he said about the recording of the album, originally released in 1981."There was nothing self-indulgent or so-called pretentious about it. It was true boyish enthusiasm that was involved in creating all those things. We were progressing and learning and developing taste at the same time."

The band's current "Time Machine" tour is an evening with RUSH, where the band is performing its classics, giving a taste of the future and for the first time ever featuring the "Moving Pictures" album live in its entirety.

"We still like to play these songs," said Peart, "and we're still proud of them."

RUSH bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee recently spoke to The Plain Dealer about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's upcoming 20th studio album, "Clockwork Angels", for which a release date has not yet been set.

"We've got about seven songs written," Lee said. He added, "When you hear the first two songs ['BU2B' and 'Caravan'], which we're playing live now, they definitely have a heavier sound. It's the heavier side of RUSH in the early going. But when I think of all the songs that we've written already, there's quite a lot of diversity there. I think I hope RUSH fans will like it. We're certainly going to work hard to make it a great record, as we always try."
