1980s Los Angeles Metal Band WITCH Launches New Web Site
March 2, 2008WITCH, featuring Punky Peru, Peter Wabitt, Jim Warmon and Ronny Too, has launched a new web site detailing its concert history and music releases.
Formed in 1983 in Huntington Beach, California, WITCH took the Southern California metal circuit by storm. After opening shows for W.A.S.P., STEELER, GREAT WHITE, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, and MALICE, the band began a headlining tour of clubs until they disbanded in 1989. The group's 1984 EP, "The Hex Is On", has become an underground metal classic, and Punky Peru's collaboraton with Lita Ford spawned her platinum-selling "Lita" album.
Although WITCH has not been active since a partial reunion in 1991, a long-time friend and crew member of the band's has created a very informative web site that chronicles the band's exploits. Loaded with photos, stories, sound recordings and links to videos on YouTube, the web site is a unique insight into one of the biggest bands on the SoCal club scene during metal's heyday, and the founding members of WITCH have fully endorsed the site.
