SAATTUE Parts Ways With Drummer, Announces Replacement

October 15, 2010

Finnish metallers SAATTUE have parted ways with drummer Mikael "Miku" Ahlstén and have replaced him with Sameli Köykkä, formerly of the Finnish funeral doom metal band COLOSSEUM. According to SAATTUE, "Ahlstén decided to leave the group after being a member of SAATTUE for five years and being responsible for recording drums for both of the band's albums, 'Jäähyvästi' (2006) and 'Vuoroveri' (2009)."

"Vuoroveri" was released in October 2009 via Spikefarm Records. The CD includes "eight works of heavy, dark and multi-dimensional saatto metal," according to a press release.

"Vuoroveri" was recorded at D-Studio in Klaukkala, Finland with producer Jarno Hänninen and was mastered at Finnvox Studio by Mika Jussila.

The video for the track "Vapahtaja", which was directed by Matti Salminen, can be viewed below.

"Vapahtaja" features special guest appearances by Alexi Laiho (CHILDREN OF BODOM) on guitar solo, Pasi Koskinen (AJATTARA) on backing vocals and Aapo Romu (VANGUARD) on cello.

SAATTUE writes its lyrics in Finnish and calls its music "saatto metal."

"Saatto," as well as "saattue," means "procession" in Finnish.
