SAMMY HAGAR Having Fun With His Fans

June 19, 2007

John Black of BostonNOW reports: Whether he's on stage making music or behind the bar making margaritas, there's one thing for certain about Sammy Hagar: He's having a blast.

"If I have a genius for anything," Hagar says in a theatrically self-important voice that has him — and the interviewer — laughing. "If I'm good at anything, it's making sure everybody in the room is having a good time, too. That's why when I tour, I bring the party to them."

As his new DVD, "Sammy and The Wabos Living it Up! In St. Louis", proves, Hagar isn't just blowing smoke. His tours include everything he can imagine fans need to feel relaxed and ready to have a good time, from huts selling margaritas, to truckloads of beach sand.

"It's a thirty ring circus," Hagar says of his tour. "Watching the DVD, even I was amazed at everything that's going on. People are having so much fun off stage it almost makes me want to stop what I'm doing to join them."
