SAMMY HAGAR's Cabo Wabo Tequila Launches 'Your Shot To Rock' Campaign

April 28, 2010

Cabo Wabo, the original rock 'n' roll tequila, is ready to give unsigned and future rock gods across the country their shot at rock superstardom. Cabo Wabo Tequila announced today the launch of the "Your Shot To Rock" campaign, a nationwide search partnered with the biggest rock radio stations to find the best unsigned rock bands in America.

Launching on Cinco de Mayo 2010 and running through Fourth of July weekend, each station will run a search to find the hottest up-and-coming bands in their areas. Bands will submit their songs and videos to each radio station and listeners will vote for their favorite. At the end of the contest, each participating city will crown the ultimate winner with a prize befitting of a rock legend provided by the radio station. The participating stations and cities include the world-famous KROQ in Los Angeles; 99X in Atlanta; 101X KROX in Austin; Q101 Chicago's Alternative; The Eagle in Dallas; 101.9 RXP The New York Rock Experience; and Live 105 in San Francisco.

The Cabo Wabo Tequila "Your Shot to Rock" promotional program will include on-air spots, concerts, events, online marketing and social media elements.

"Cabo Wabo was born out of rock and roll," says Cabo Wabo Tequila founder and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar (CHICKENFOOT, ex-VAN HALEN). "As someone who knows how hard it is to make it in the music business, I'm glad that Cabo Wabo Tequila can lend a hand to give up-and-coming bands a boost. Raise some Cabo and let the rockin' begin!"

"Cabo Wabo Tequila has an authentic connection to rock n roll," says Kat Corbett, DJ at KROQ. "Finding great rock bands is what we do every day at KROQ and having Cabo Wabo Tequila on board with this campaign is going to blast a giant spotlight on the local music community here in SoCal."

Details about how to enter the Cabo Wabo Tequila"Your Shot To Rock" program will be announced online and on-air by participating radio stations in the designated markets, starting May 5. Contest rules will be found on each individual radio station's web site. Must be 21 to enter.

Founded nearly 15 years ago by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar, Cabo Wabo is the original rock 'n roll tequila.
