SATYRICON Booking North American Headlining Tour
March 6, 2009Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON has issued the following update:
"First of all, to the American audiences we have had the pleasure to perform in front of and meet every night... we salute you! We had a great time and a fantastic tour (supporting CRADLE OF FILTH). Because of your great interest and dedication throughout the tour we just finished, we are now booking a full SATYRICON headlining tour starting in September. We'll keep you posted on this throughout spring and summer.
"In the meantime, all fans in Japan and down under are probably well aware of the upcoming tour starting next week and we are in particular looking forward to visiting New Zealand and Perth for the first time. All dates for the Nordic tour have now been posted as well. Support acts for this tour will be announced shortly. We have also posted all confirmed festivals where we will perform throughout spring and summer. Since the day we will be playing has not been set in stone at most festivals, we have chosen to post the opening day of the festival. The actual date we will be performing will be updated as soon as confirmed."

"The Age Of Nero", the latest album from SATYRICON, has sold around 6,000 copies in the United States since its January release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD debuted at No. 18 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
"The Age Of Nero" entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 73. It also landed on the national chart in the band's home country at position No. 5. This is SATYRICON's lowest chart entry in Norway since "Rebel Extravaganza", which premiered at No. 32 in 1999. "Volcano" (2002) entered the chart at No. 4, while 2006's "Now, Diabolical" came in at No. 2.
