SATYRICON Prepares To Kick Off European Tour

November 9, 2008

Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON have issued the following update:

"We kicked off the world tour in style in front of enthusiastic crowds that really killed it in Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore, India (see video below). Thanks to all of you for being so loud and showing up in such great numbers! In Stavanger, Norway on Wednesday, we begin the European leg of our world tour and with us as main support on all shows are UK thrashers EVILE and Norwegian thrashers BLOOD TSUNAMI will be opening all shows in Norway (only). On all other shows on this tour, the opener will be Swedish extreme metal band ZONARIA! The stage is set for a fine combination of extreme bands who all represent their own style and direction leading the way all up to Christmas! See you soon everyone."

SATYRICON's recently completed video for the song "Black Crow On A Tombstone" will receive its online premiere tomorrow (Monday, November 10). The song, which was released digitally on October 20, is available for streaming at this location.

As BLABBERMOUTH.NETfirst reported on November 4, SATYRICON has inked a deal with Koch Records for the North American release of its new album, "The Age Of Nero". The CD, which was issued in Europe on November 3 via Roadrunner Records, is tentatively due in the U.S. in January in time for the group's tour with CRADLE OF FILTH.

After issuing the group's three previous efforts on three different record labels in Norway — Playground Music for "Rebel Extravaganza" (1999),EMI Music for "Volcano" (2002) and Sony BMG for "Now, Diabolical" (2006) — SATYRICON joined forces with Indie Recordings for the release of "The Age Of Nero".

"We have shipped 8,000 [copies] so far of 'The Age Of Nero', and we are really satisfied with that," Indie Recordings sales manager Espen Solheim Røhne told the Norwegian music industry magazine Faro Journalen. "The record stores and the wholesale companies have really come together and gotten behind the album, so the distribution is nicely spread out throughout the country."

"Now, Diabolical" has sold a total of 12,500 copies in Norway through Sony BMG. Indie Recordings is confident that it will be able to push the "Age Of Nero" sales past the 15,000 mark, thus securing SATYRICON its first gold record ever.

DIMMU BORGIR is the only Norwegian black metal band to ever receive a gold album in Norway, a feat that it managed to achieve with 2007's "In Sorte Diaboli". The CD also entered the Norwegian album chart at No. 1.

SATYRICON's highest-charting album in Norway to date is "Now, Diabolical", which landed at No. 2 back in April 2006.
