SATYRICON Sign With ROADRUNNER For World Outside North America, Norway

February 2, 2006

Roadrunner Records U.K. has announced the signing of leading Norwegian black metal band SATYRICON into the fold for all territories, excluding North America and Norway.

SATYRICON is centered around the backbone of band members Satyr and Frost, who formed the band in the early '90s. Their progressive and creative outlook has enabled SATYRICON to push the boundaries of the black metal genre, setting a new standard and developing the field beyond its traditional parameters. As a result, SATYRICON are now one of the most respected and influential bands in black metal.

Their last album, the acclaimed "Volcano" (2002),received the Norwegian Grammy for "Best Metal Album", the Alarm Awards for "Song Of The Year" (for track "Fuel For Hatred") plus "Metal Album Of The Year", and also the Oslo Award for "Best Overall Album". "Volcano" debuted at #4 on the Norwegian national album chart.

Wally van Middendorp, VP International Marketing and Acquisitions at Roadrunner International stated: "We are truly excited to be working with one of the most widely-revered bands in their genre and look forward to assisting SATYRICON in their continuing quest to push back the boundaries of black metal.”

SATYRICON have been in Vancouver, Canada this month mixing their first new studio album since 2002 with Mike Frasier (METALLICA, AC/DC). Titled "Now, Diabolical", it is set for release in April 2006. Satyr is looking forward to the release, stating, "This project has been a deeper dive in the abyss than ever before and many sacrifices have been made to try to achieve what we where looking for. We are very proud of 'Now, Diabolical' and hope the pain of giving birth to this phoenix will prove its worth!"
