SATYRICON Turned Down Slot At This Year's OZZFEST
April 5, 2006Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON turned down a slot at this year's Ozzfest, the group's frontman Satyr revealed in an interview conducted earlier today (April 5). Speaking to the Norwegian metal radio show "Tinitus" immediately following the group's performance on the P3 station in front of a live audience of about 100 people, Satyr said about the group's North American touring plans, "Since we're now probably not doing it anyways, I guess it's not a secret… We were offered Ozzfest 2006. And I must admit that I'm proud of that. Being offered Ozzfest is a big, big deal. . . The thing is that circumstances, you know… We should have done it, but there were just too many things that were… factors that were kind of telling me like, 'This is gonna be too problematic.' It's still not completely ruled out, but it's gonna be a little bit of a miracle if we do it. We've been offered a tour with SHADOWS FALL — a HATEBREED/SEPULTURA tour… One of my favorite bands is CELTIC FROST and they [will] tour two months — from September 'till mid-November — and we've been offered the 'special guest' slot for that tour in America, and that's really nice. The crazy thing about Europe now is like I feel that our agents have been working hard on our behalf to make sure that things happen, and now they are happening, whereas in America no one has been proactive on our behalf, but stuff has just been coming our way. So I guess we established some good things with [the last studio album] 'Volcano'."
