SAVATAGE: 'Super-Rare' Live Video From 1992 Posted Online

September 26, 2006

A "super-rare" video of SAVATAGE performing the song "Tonight He Grins Again" on the Tampa Music Awards in 1992 has been posted online at YouTube.com. The clip, which is believed to be some of the best existing live footage of the band's "Streets" lineup (Jon Oliva, Criss Oliva, Steve "Dr. Killdrums" Wacholz, Johnny Lee Middleton, and touring member John Zahner),was provided by John Zahner (ex-SAVATAGE touring keyboard player and current member of JON OLIVA'S PAIN).

As previously reported, JON OLIVA'S PAIN, the solo project of SAVATAGE mastermind Jon Oliva, has announced the first U.S. date in support of its sophomore album, "Maniacal Renderings". The band will play the Bourbon Street Nightclub in New Port Richey, Florida on Saturday, November 25. Support at the show will come from MONEYSHOT and FIRST BORN.

The follow-up to 2004's "'Tage Mahal", "Maniacal Renderings" was once again recorded at Audio Lab Studios in Tampa, Florida and is described in a press release as "a more progressive, complex and dramatic edge without sacrificing any of the songwriting quality that fans have come to expect during Oliva's 25-year career."
