SAXON's Innovative Charity Idea

March 30, 2011

British heavy metal legends SAXON have come up with an innovative idea to collect charity donations for Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy and Childline on their forthcoming U.K. tour. They have invited 20 fans per venue to come and watch them soundcheck for a donation to charity of £10 per person. Fans inundated the web site when this offer went up on Monday and the bandmembers were so pleased with the results that they have added some additional spaces for some of the shows. All of the money collected will go Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy and Childline and will be presented to the charities at the London Shepherds Bush Empire show on St. Georges Day, April 23l.

If you want to attend a soundcheck, email [email protected].

Vocalist Biff Byford said: "If you were lucky enough to get allocated a place, you turn up at the backstage door at 4 p.m. and you must pay £10 cash into the charity box. I think this is a first."

SAXON's new album, "Call To Arms", will be released on May 23 via Militia Guard Music, UDR and EMI. The follow-up to 2009's "Into The Labyrinth" (SPV/Steamhammer) features a guest appearance by legendary keyboardist Don Airey (DEEP PURPLE, RAINBOW).
