SCOTT WEILAND Released From Jail

May 13, 2008

According to TMZ.com, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman Scott Weiland was released from jail at 6:54 p.m. last night 14 minutes after he was officially booked into jail.

Weiland turned himself in at 8:55 a.m. yesterday, was officially booked at just after noon, and then checked into prison at 6:41 p.m.

Weiland was sentenced on April 28 to 192 hours in jail for a November 2007 DUI in Los Angeles. The singer also received four years' probation, was fined $2,000, and was ordered to take part in an 18-month alcohol program. He was potentially looking at a year behind bars for DUI with a prior conviction. At the time of his November arrest, Weiland had just finished a previous three-year-probation for a 2004 DUI arrested. He declined to take a chemical test after the November incident. He was booked and released after posting $40,000 bail, subsequently checking into a rehab facility in February.

Weiland, who was dismissed from VELVET REVOLVER on April 1, has reunited with STONE TEMPLE PILOTS for a lengthy spring and summer tour, beginning at Columbus, Ohio's Rock on the Range festival on May 17.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS officially announced their reunion with a private performance for about 350 people last month at the Houdini Mansion in Los Angeles. The event might be released as part of a DVD.
