SEBASTIAN BACH: 'I Would Return To Broadway If The Role Was Right'

Ed Condran of the Asbury Park Press is reporting that in recent years, Sebastian Bach has starred in Broadway plays, scored a role on the WB series "The Gilmore Girls" and hosted shows for VH1.

But according to the former SKID ROW frontman, each of those high-profile gigs pales compared to belting out rock tunes.

"I love Broadway, and doing 'The Gilmore Girls' is great, but by the end of the day I'm happiest singing in front of a band," Bach told the Asbury Park Press. "Whenever I hear '18 and Life' or 'I Remember You' on the radio, it's just so much heavier than acting. Singing is what I was meant to do."

On Friday, Bach will perform at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park. Expect an energetic performance despite the fact that Bach, 37, tore a ligament in his left knee last week while performing a stunt on the set of "The Gilmore Girls".

"I went around saying, 'I don't need a stuntman,' " Bach said. "But I guess I did, but don't worry, I'll kick butt at The Stone Pony. I love that place; I've been playing there for what seems like forever. I think the first time I played there I was just 18."

Bach's son Paris will make his Pony debut at 17. Bach's progeny is the drummer for SEVERED HAND, which will open for the elder Bach.

"I couldn't be prouder," Bach said. "When he's hammering out the double bass at home and the whole house is shaking, I just think, "That's my boy.' "

Bach envisions his son jamming with him one day.

"We talk about it all the time," Bach said. "If he were in my band, I wouldn't have to fly a drummer in to play with me. He's so talented. It would be cool (to play in a band with him) someday."

Bach recently turned down a role in Broadway's "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang".

"I wasn't even getting a whole song to do," Bach said. "If I'm going to do a show, it would be great if I had an opportunity like I did with 'Jekyll & Hyde'. I did 17 songs in that show. I would return to Broadway if the role was right. I hear that there is going to be a show based on Lestat the vampire from Anne Rice's book ('The Vampire Lestat'). I hear that Elton John is going to do the music. I would totally be into playing a vampire-turned-rocker."
