SEBASTIAN BACH Performs With Swedish Pop Singer SOFIA At SWEDEN ROCK Festival
June 14, 2005Former SKID ROW frontman Sebastian Bach invited Swedish pop singer Sofia to sing with him on stage at this past weekend's Sweden Rock Festival.
At Sweden Rock Festival in Solvesborg, Sweden last Saturday (June 11),Sebastian Bach and his band entered the stage in front of a wild crowd of 15,000 rockers to perform a set of old SKID ROW classics and some new songs . The band had only played a couple of songs in the set before Sebastian said that he had a very special guest for the audience and introduced Sofia to the opening chords of "Wasted Time".
Needless to say, this was a real crowd pleaser as the two went on to perform a "smashing" version of the classic SKID ROW track.
When asked about Sofia during a post-show press conference, Sebastian said that he was surprised that she chose to record a version of "Wasted Time" on her debut album and not "I Remember You" or "18 and Life", which would have been more obvious choices to cover.
”This song means a lot to me because this was one tracks that I wrote back in 1991 about my friend Steven Adler [ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer]," Bach said.
"I don't care if she is a pop singer and this a rock festival, I wanted her on stage today."
No one was happier about the opportunity to share the stage with Bach than Sofia, who later stated to the press that "This was a real rock 'n' roll moment for me. I would never in my life have imagined that Sebastian would take notice of my version of the track, [let alone invite] me on stage to sing with him. I mean, he is one of the great voices of rock 'n' roll and has fronted one of my favorite bands and played in 'Jesus Christ Superstar' on Broadway. What more could you ask for? Jesus himself… I was just afraid that I would scare him off stage with my voice…"
Sofia's version of "Wasted Time" can be heard on her debut album, "Lifetraveller", out this month on BTM Records.
