SENTENCED Frontman: 'POISONBLACK Is Not Dying Yet'
May 11, 2005SENTENCED/POISONBLACK frontman Ville Laihiala has rejected Internet rumors that his POISONBLACK project is on the verge of splitting up after failing to complete work on the follow-up to their "Escapextacy" debut.
Commented Laihiala: "POISONBLACK is not dying yet. The next album is allready recorded, but it needs a bit more work before the release, which will be at the end of this year. October, perhaps..."
The current lineup of POISONBLACK — Laihiala (vocals, guitar),Janne Markus (guitar),Marco Sneck (keyboards),Antti Remes (bass) and Tarmo Kanerva (drums) — was previously scheduled to return to the studio in April to complete the recordings for their sophomore album, which will be released via Century Media Records.
Laihiala had previously stated about the new album's musical direction: "The new one has the same spirit and theme that was on [the debut album, 'Escapextacy'], but presented with a lot more dirtier and rougher sounds without forgetting the melodies," he said. "But if you are waiting for a soft goth-rock album you'll be surprised." Several photos from the studio sessions can be viewed at this location.
POISONBLACK's 2003 debut, "Escapextacy", featured the vocal talents of CHARON frontman Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto. Juha-Pekka's touring and recording commitments with his main band eventually forced him to quit POISONBLACK, but not before completing all the touring activities in support of the group's debut CD.
