SEPULTURA To Record EP Of Cover Songs

July 1, 2002

SEPULTURA are tentatively set to enter Trama studios in São Paulo, Brazil during August to record a mini-CD consisting of five or six cover songs, to be released later in the year through an as-yet-undetermined label, BLABBERMOUTH.NET can exclusively reveal. At the moment, the plan is for the EP to be issued in Brazil only, although a possibility exists that it will be released in other parts of the world, "depending on how [the CD] turns out," according to drummer Igor Cavalera.

Among the songs currently being considered for inclusion on the upcoming EP are the following:

01. HELLHAMMER - "Messiah"
02. PUBLIC ENEMY – " Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos"
03. JANE'S ADDICTION – "Mountain Song"
04. DEVO – "Mongoloid"
05. U2 – "Bullet The Blue Sky"

In other news, SEPULTURA are still seeking a label deal following their split with Roadrunner Records last year and have reportedly had discussions with several different companies in various territories—including Germany's SPV/Steamhammer Records and Japan's JVC Records—about releasing the group's next full-length effort, due in early 2003.

Also on the SEPULTURA-related front, Igor and his wife Monika are expecting their third child—a boy—in December. The couple already have two girls—five-year-old Joanna and two-year-old Raissa.

SEPULTURA have lined up the following dates during August:

Aug. 10 - Belo Horizonte, BRA @ TBA
Aug. 16 – CZ @ Trutnov Open Air
Aug. 31 - Palma, BRA @ TBA
