SERJ TANKIAN Announces North American Tour Dates

June 17, 2008

Serj Tankian, the visionary frontman for multi-platinum rock band SYSTEM OF A DOWN, has announced select North American tour dates in July and August amidst a run of European shows. Tankian will perform at two Canadian festivals: the Pemberton Festival on July 25, with NINE INCH NAILS, and OZZY OSBOURNE's Monsters of Rock Festival on July 26. Tankian will also play a special hometown show at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles on August 2 before heading to Dallas for a mainstage appearance at Ozzfest 2008 on August 8 alongside METALLICA.

Currently in Europe playing festivals such as Rock Am Ring in Germany and Pinkpop in Holland with RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, Tankian performed several headlining dates and recently completed U.S. and European tour dates with FOO FIGHTERS. He will play many additional European summer festival dates, including August stops at the U.K.'s Reading and Leeds festivals and Rock En Seine in Paris.

Tankian has been on the road since the October 23, 2007 release of his Serjical Strike/Reprise Records debut solo album, "Elect The Dead", which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200. The album, which the Los Angeles Times called "brutally engaging guitar-rock, with steely lyricism and throttling textures," also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hard and Alternative Charts and No. 2 on the Billboard Rock Chart. The first single, "Empty Walls", was a hit at Alternative and Rock radio. Tankian is gearing up to release a new single, "Lie Lie Lie", which will ship to radio on June 30.
