SERJ TANKIAN Interviewed By ShockHound (Video)
September 23, 2010Hot Topic's ShockHound recently conducted an interview with singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and political activist Serj Tankian. You can now watch the chat below.
Tankian's new solo album, "Imperfect Harmonies", was released on Tuesday (September 21) as a follow-up to his 2007 solo debut, "Elect The Dead". Unlike that album and some of his work with SYSTEM OF A DOWN, Tankian told The Pulse of Radio that the new record is less political and more philosophical. "It's a definite brooding kind of record with a lot of layers that reveals itself over time," he said. " If 'Elect The Dead' was making a statement about civilization's end, then this one is making a statement about where to go next, post-civilized world, you know. I think that's the focus."
Tankian has called "Imperfect Harmonies" "electro-orchestral-jazz-rock" in many recent interviews.
Although he was originally scheduled to kick off the North American leg of the "Imperfect Harmonies" world tour on September 12 in Canada, the trek was postponed.
Tankian toured Europe this past summer, doing performances of "Elect The Dead Symphony", the orchestral version of that album which he debuted in New Zealand in 2009 and captured on a CD and DVD released earlier this year.
