SERJ TANKIAN Talks New Solo Album With 'Stefanie's Rock Show'
July 22, 2010Stefanie Heminger of "Stefanie's Rock Show" recently conducted an interview with SYSTEM OF A DOWN frontman Serj Tankian about his new solo album, "Imperfect Harmonies", which is scheduled for release on September 7 via Serjical Strike/Reprise Records. Watch the chat below.
Tankian has already released two songs from "Imperfect Harmonies": "Borders Are..." and the first official single, "Left Of Center". While both songs are very political — which is nothing new for the singer — he told The Pulse of Radio that the rest of the record does not follow suit. "Those are the most blatant political songs on the record," he said. "Everything else is a bit more philosophical and deals with why we're here and ecology and the times that we live in, but in a more abstract way than these two songs."
"Imperfect Harmonies" will follow up "Elect The Dead", Tankian's 2007 solo debut. Tankian calls the new record "electro-orchestral-jazz-rock."
Tankian is currently on tour in Europe, doing performances of "Elect The Dead Symphony", the orchestral version of that album which he debuted in New Zealand in 2009 and captured on a CD and DVD released earlier this year.
Following his European "Elect the Dead Symphony" shows, Tankian will kick off the North American leg of the "Imperfect Harmonies" world tour on September 12 in Canada.
