SEVENDUST To Begin Recording New Album Next Week
June 27, 2006SEVENDUST will enter an Atlanta-area studio on July 5 to begin recording the follow-up to last year's "Next", tentatively due late 2006/early 2007 through an as-yet-undetermined label. The band have completed about 15 songs musically and are currently working on vocal melodies and lyrics, the group revealed Monday night (June 26) during an appearance on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline". The first album to feature new guitarist Sonny Mayo (ex-AMEN/SNOT) as part of the songwriting process will contain some of "the heaviest" material SEVENDUST have penned to date, according to the band.
SEVENDUST announced in April that they and their wholly owned record label 7Bros. Records have officially parted ways with the Universal-affiliated WineDark Records. The band inked a deal with WineDark in early 2005 after a lengthy stint with TVT Records. 7Bros. Records continues its distribution through Fontana/Universal Music in North America and Roadrunner/Universal Music throughout the rest of the world.
SEVENDUST were recently forced to cancel several U.S. tour dates due to a broken bone in the left hand of guitarist John Connolly.
"Next" marked the recording debut with the band of Mayo. Sonny joined SEVENDUST in early 2005 as the replacement for Clint Lowery, who left the group mid-tour in December 2004, citing "personal issues."
