SEXTUS Releases Debut Album 'Stranger Than Fiction' On DRAMAPANTS RECORDS
November 21, 2007Over 10 years after the release of "Imperial Drag" (Sony/Work),rock and roll chameleon Eric Dover has resurfaced as SEXTUS with the release of his album "Stranger than Fiction".
The near-hour long opus has been long rumored in its release, with various demos appearing online over the years, but has never been officially available until now.
Never one to disappoint, Dover has completely re-christened himself in the persona of SEXTUS. "It was important that the persona be directly influenced by the music solely, which is both dramatic and epic in its word, and intent. It is something that cannot be misconstrued," says Dover. "I have endured countless setbacks, deaths, divorces, alienation; you name it, during the process of making this record. It is my statement to the world, my testimony of love, and love lost."
Dramapantsrecords.com is offering a preview of the album in the form of a limited edition, white 12" vinyl release. Customers also receive a copy of the record as a digital download with the purchase of the vinyl record. The full album is scheduled for release on CD in February 2008. Preview tracks have been posted to www.sextus.com.
Eric Dover is best known for his work as guitarist for JELLYFISH, vocalist for SLASH'S SNAKEPIT, his own project IMPERIAL DRAG, and for his tenure with ALICE COOPER.
Dramapants Records was founded in Febuary 2007 by former Rust Records VP Keith Simmerer and Eric Dover as an artist-friendly refuge from the current state of the industry. SEXTUS will be the first release under the new label.
