SHADOWS FALL Drummer's BURNING HUMAN: Performance Clip Posted Online

January 7, 2008

Video footage of SHADOWS FALL drummer Jason Bittner performing the BURNING HUMAN track "Tormented Mind" on June 22, 2007 can be viewed below.

BURNING HUMAN is the resurrected death metal band featuring Bittner. The group recently posted another newly recorded song, entitled "Chemical Experimentation", on its MySpace page. The track comes off the group's forthcoming debut album, "Resurrection through Fire", which was mixed by legendary guitarist James Murphy (OBITUARY, DEATH, TESTAMENT, DISINCARNATE, CANCER, KONKHRA).

As previously reported, BURNING HUMAN has announced the addition of second guitarist Mike Stack to the group's ranks. "Mike has played in a number of local Troy/Albany, NY metal and hardcore bands since the early '90s, including local legends DYING BREED and POLITICS OF CONTRABAND," BURNING HUMAN writes in a statement. "Mike currently plays guitar in THE FINAL SLEEP, and plans to continue his double duty between both bands.

The group adds, "Each one of us has played in a band at some point in the last decade and a half with Mike. When we first started the discussions of bringing a second guitar player in, it was an easy choice on who we wanted. His name was the first to pop in each our heads and out of our mouths. Knowing Mike for so long, we felt his playing ability, style, and more importantly personality and attitude, as well as current schedule and priorities, were a sure fit. We think that Mike can offer a dynamic element to the band during live shows as well as contributions in the song writing department. Currently we have been bringing Mike up to speed rehearsing material and have been working on some new 'killer' material."

In the latter half of the 1990s, BURNING HUMAN was a deathcore/death metal four-piece from the "Capital District" region of New York (Albany, Troy, Schenectady). Ignited in 1995, BURNING HUMAN's lineup consisted of Bittner (currently in SHADOWS FALL, ex-STIGMATA, CRISIS) on drums, Jason Sunkes (currently in DEAD RABBITS, ex-STIGMATA) on guitar, Jay VanDervoort on bass, and Jonah Radaelli on vocals.

Shortly after forming, BURNING HUMAN recorded and released a seven-song demo tape titled "Death is Mercy". These songs were later released on a compilation CD titled "We the People: A Compilation of Upstate NY's Hardest" with three other bands from the Troy/Albany, New York area (WAR-TIME MANNER, POLITICS OF CONTRABAND, DYING BREED). Although the band never issued a full-length album, a number of additional tracks were recorded and released on various compilation CDs, including a song called "Hazards to Humans" on a sampler titled "Capitol Punishment" in 1997. In addition, two songs — "As Good As Dead" and "Tormented Mind" — were featured on the "Frozen Dawn IV" compilation CD in 1998, and "Self-Inflicted Crucifixion" appeared on "United We Stand, Divided We Fall" in 1998.
