SHARON OSBOURNE Praises 'Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back To The Beginning' Concert Film But Says She 'Probably' Won't Watch It Again
October 26, 2026Fifteen months after Ozzy Osbourne's death, his wife and manager Sharon Osbourne sat down with the BBC's Mark Savage to talk about his final performance, last year's "Back To The Beginning" charity concert in Birmingham, United Kingdom, being made into a theatrical release. Produced by Mercury Studios, the "Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back To The Beginning" movie — which will hit theaters beginning on October 28 — chronicles the farewell show by Osbourne and his SABBATH bandmates, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward, in Osbourne's original hometown at Aston Villa football club's home stadium at Villa Park on July 5, 2025. The concert featured both solo sets from Osbourne and a reunion of the original SABBATH lineup for the first time in more than two decades, along with a long list of performers influenced by Ozzy and the rest of SABBATH. Hosted by actor Jason Momoa and overseen by musical director, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello, the concert featured sets from ALICE IN CHAINS, ANTHRAX, GUNS N' ROSES, LAMB OF GOD, MASTODON, METALLICA, PANTERA, SLAYER and TOOL, as well as special guests SMASHING PUMPKINS leader Billy Corgan, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith, Sammy Hagar, AEROSMITH singer Steven Tyler, Yungblud, BLINK-182 drummer Travis Barker and many more.
"It was just a very emotional day because everybody was there," Sharon told BBC (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). "There were no egos. It was like everybody was having a great time. And, of course, the fans were incredible. It was just overwhelming, the feeling that I got from everybody. I was like, 'Whoa.' I've said it a million times, but to ask people for their time — it's hard. It was just overwhelming, the feeling of support."
Sharon went on to say that Ozzy was "overwhelmed" the day of the show," because he was sat in his dressing room watching everybody on a screen performing, and so he was, like, 'I just can't believe this.' And he was just in awe of everybody else," she recalled. "He was just, like, 'I cannot believe they're here.' And it just made him feel like he was alive again."
Asked if there was ever a point where she was thinking, "We're gonna have to call this off", due to the fact that Ozzy was "in agony" after having had five major operations and three other minor operations in a six-and-a-half-year period, Sharon said: "Listen, he was warned two weeks before, 'Don't do it,' by the doctors, his team of doctors, and they said, 'You can't do this. We're advising you not to do this. Your heart's too weak. Don't do it.' He said, 'I'm doing it.'"
Sharon continued: "It's amazing what support and love and determination can do for somebody, 'cause he was somebody that couldn't breathe. Some days, just to even talk was an effort, let alone sing, and I don't know how he did it, but he did it. I mean, he delivered, and you saw in his eyes and his face, he just loved it. It was what he wanted, it's what made him happy, and the days afterwards that he was with us, he was so happy. It was like, 'Yes.'"
Sharon added: "I always think of us as such an unusual relationship anyway, 'cause we had such highs and such terrible lows. No mid-ground — it was either [great highs] or [great lows]. And it was just the perfect way for Ozzy to pass on."
Asked what she is doing to balance grief over losing her husband with moving forward with life, Sharon said: "Grief will be with me forever. It's not anything that you can say, 'Oh, it'll go away in a couple of weeks. In a couple of years I'm gonna be fine.' It's with you. You've lost the love of your life, so you don't just wake up and go, 'Ah, I'm fine now. I'm cured.' You never get over it, but you learn to live with it."
As for how she felt watching "Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back To The Beginning" for the first time at the movie's world-premiere event on October 14 at The Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, Sharon said: "When I saw it last week in a cinema, it was like going to a gig, 'cause the crowd was singing along. They had the lights on their phones, and everybody was up. Nobody was sat down, and it was just like being in a gig. It was great. It was joyous."
Asked if she will ever watch it again, Sharon said: "Probably not, no. You don't wanna think of passing, and it's tears, and everybody's around you, and you're just bed bound, 'cause that's when Ozzy said to the doctors, 'Well, how long have I got, then?' And they go, 'Well, months.' And, like, 'I've had such a great life. A few months? No, I wanna do what I wanna do.' He said, 'If I could do it all again, I wouldn't change a thing. Nothing.'"
