SHINEDOWN Dedicates 'Simple Man' To Late SLIPKNOT Bassist At Minnesota Concert

May 25, 2010

Jacksonville, Florida hard rockers SHINEDOWN dedicated their acoustic version of the song "Simple Man" to late SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray during last night's (Monday, May 24) concert at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota (where they played as the support act for NICKELBACK). Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be viewed below.

Gray was found dead in an Iowa hotel room early Monday morning (May 24). He was 38.

The Des Moines Register reported that police were called to the TownePlace Suites hotel in Urbandale, Iowa, shortly before 11 a.m. after an employee discovered Gray's body in a room. There was no evidence of foul play, police told the newspaper, but the investigation is ongoing and an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. A toxicology test will also be done to determine any contributing factors to his death.

Gray was arrested in Iowa in 2003 on drug possession charges when police found small amounts of marijuana, two syringes and a substance that field-tested positive for cocaine after he was involved in a wreck with another motorist.
