SHINEDOWN Frontman Talks About Meaning Behind 'Devour'

May 5, 2008

The Pulse of Radio reports that SHINEDOWN's new single, "Devour", came out last week and will appear on the band's third album, "The Sound of Madness", which arrives June 24. Some of the material, including the song "Devour", has been influenced by current events, particularly the war in Iraq. Frontman Brent Smith tells The Pulse of Radio what the track is about: "This was a song that was totally representative of the men and women of the United States of America in the military and all the armed forces and what they do for us. But in all reality it's a hat's off to them and all they do for us. But it's also me looking into the eye of the person I'm supposed to look at as the leader of the free world and this is my opinion towards you for what you've done in those years."

"Devour" will serve as the theme song to World Wrestling Entertainment's June 29 pay-per-view event, "Night of Champions". The single will also be featured on ESPN throughout the current major league baseball season, and will be included on the soundtrack to EA Sports' Madden NFL 09 video game.

SHINEDOWN has a batch of dates lined up this month, starting with a hometown show on Thursday (May 9) in Jacksonville, Florida.

The last SHINEDOWN album, "Us and Them", came out in 2005.
