SHRUM Featuring Late ACID BATH Bassist: Music Available Online

September 5, 2006

SHRUM, the long-defunct side-project of late ACID BATH bassist Audie Pitre and drum programmer/keyboardist/vocalist Tomas Viator (DISINCARNATE, SUFFER),had four songs from their "Red Devils and Purple Ringers" CD posted online at this MySpace tribute page .

Described as "a psychadelic, death metal mix of chaos," SHRUM used two bass players (with former JACKNIFE bassist Joseph J. Fontenot on second bass) and no guitarists.

After two well-received albums, ACID BATH's career came to an abrupt and tragic close in 1997 when Audie Pitre and his parents were killed in a drunk-driving accident (the other driver was at fault),according to Wikipedia. This effectively brought ACID BATH to an end, with the other members finding themselves unable to carry on in the same spirit. While rumors of another album circulated after the band's end, nothing new surfaced.

Dax Riggs (vocals) and Mike Sanchez (guitar),however, did go on to perform in AGENTS OF OBLIVION, releasing one self-titled album until that also ended. Dax formed and is currently in DEADBOY & THE ELEPHANTMEN. Sammy Duet (guitar) was once a member of CROWBAR, but has since left the band. He is now a member of black metal bands GOATWHORE and RITUAL KILLER and his doom metal band with Kelly Pitre (the brother of Audie) VUAL.
