SHY Frontman Joins ANDY SCOTT'S SWEET

January 15, 2006

AS SWEET, the band led by former THE SWEET guitarist/vocalist Andy Scott, have announced the addition of SHY frontman Tony Mills as the group's new vocalist/bassist.

Commented Mills: "Well, what can I say?!!! As a fan of THE SWEET from my first interest in music in the early '70s… THE SWEET, DAVID BOWIE and MOTT THE HOOPLE dominated my life for many years. Vowing to one day be signed to the same record labels as a kid, I eventually achieved this in the mid-'80s with a band called SHY.

"After years of touring with SHY and SIAM and working as a solo artist and session musician, the opportunity of working with a hero becomes no less daunting, yet so exciting.

"After recording a couple of tracks for Andy Scott, to be asked to join the band was a great surprise and a great honour.

"I am very excited to be working with Andy, Steve and Bruce and I'm full of apprehension for the coming weeks.

"From a fan to a member in 30 years is a strange journey and yet I feel a great sense of achievement, albeit such a long time.

"In dedication to Brian Connolly [late THE SWEET frontman], whom I admired greatly, I only hope I can be such a Hellraiser."

Added Andy: "Tony O'Hora the group's previous vocalist] recommended Tony Mills after seeing him perform last year. They knew each other anyway and Tony O admitted to being a bit of a fan of Tony M. Small world. Their voices are not dissimilar and as a band we are looking forward to the future. His first dates are in Europe (Denmark) at the end of January — straight in at the deep end just the same as everyone else!"
