SILENTIUM Part Ways With Singer, Announce Replacement
August 27, 2003Finnish atmospheric doom metallers SILENTIUM have confirmed the departure of singer Maija Turunen following the release of their third album, "Sufferion - Hamartia of Prudence".
"Due to unexpected conditions, we had to reconcider our situation concerning our new supposed-to-be female vocalist Maija Turunen and because of this, we were forced to give up the talented young singer," keyboardist Sami Boman said in an official statement. "We are all very sorry for this. Maija is a great person, and reasons for this event are completely not depending on her. Maija has been replaced by Anna Ilveskoski, who has already sung choral parts on our latest recording: 'Sufferion - Hamartia of Prudence'."
As previously reported, "Sufferion - Hamartia of Prudence" was recorded at Sundicoop Studio in Savonlinna, Finland and was produced by NIGHTWISH mainman Tuomas Holopainen. Available in Finland through Spikefarm Records, the CD features a guest appearance by former LULLACRY and current SOULGRIND frontwoman Tanja Kemppainen.
