SINISTER Plan Cover CD, Perform Impromptu Athens Gig

May 6, 2002

Dutch death metallers SINISTER will soon enter the studio to record Creators Of Brutality, an album's worth of classic death metal covers from the 80s and 90s. Included will be renditions of cuts from PUNGENT STENCH, INFERNAL MAJESTY, CELTIC FROST, KREATOR, DEATH, and others. Recordings will start this summer for a late 2002 release.

In other news, SINISTER recently played an impromptu gig in Athens, Greece after their scheduled support shows with IMMORTAL and HYPOCRISY were cancelled due to the threat of a "lethal virus". According to a statement on SINISTER's site, "we checked with our health department [in Holland] before our departure towards Athens, and got the assurance that the situation was safe. Therefore we decided to go. Also because of the fact that just three old people died of the virus (in a city with almost 5 million people) we didn't see the real threat. Unfortunately, SINISTER came for nothing since other bands had cancelled. The promoter tried to contact us, but we were already in the plane towards Greece. Fortunately, we did a small instant gig in Athens for 200 people which was really great. Therefore a big hail towards the Greek people and organizers because of their warm welcome and help during the weekend."
