SKELETONWITCH Announces New Bassist
October 20, 2008Ohio's sons of Midwestern darkness SKELETONWITCH have announced the addition of bassist Evan Linger to the group's ranks. Linger, a longtime friend of the band, entered the fold after the departure of Eric Harris. Evan has been out with the 'WITCH since October 2 when the pre-DANZIG dates kicked off.
"I'm stoked to be a part of SKELETONWITCH," Linger says in a press release. "I've been friends with these assholes for quite a long time so I have a pretty good idea of what I'm in for...a hangover!"
Guitarist Nate Garnette states: "We we would like to officially welcome our new bass player, Evan Linger, to SKELETONWITCH. He's a bad-ass friend, a bad-ass player, and an all around bad-ass dude. Bad-ass!!”
SKELETONWITCH has been tearing it up on the Blackest of The Black Tour with DANZIG and DIMMU BORGIR since early October. Guitarist Scott Hedrick comments: "Blackest Of The Black has been an amazing tour so far. All of the bands, crew, and Glenn himself, have been unbelievably killer! The atmosphere is great and everyone involved works together whether it's helping a band get on stage (i.e. we're sharing a lot of gear) or to party their ass off (i.e. we make MOONSPELL drink shitty American beer). It's a hell of a lot of fun. And on top of everything...we get to watch DANZIG devastate the stage every night. Truly fucking amazing!"
SKELETONWITCH recently completed filming its debut video from "Beyond The Permafrost", which saw an October 2007 release through Prosthetic Records. Combining live footage from Stuart's Opera House in Nelsonville, Ohio and additional narrative footage from various locales in southern Ohio from earlier this summer, the b-roll footage was wrapped in September. Director Brian Wiebe is a friend of the band and successful graduate of Ohio University's School of Film in Athens, the unholy birthplace of "The Witch."
"Beyond The Permafrost" is SKELETONWITCH's second full-length and third release overall after 2006's "Worship The Witch" EP and 2004's "At One With The Shadows", both independent, self-financed releases.
