SKID ROW Announces New Singer JUSTIN SARGENT
October 29, 2026A new chapter begins for SKID ROW. After more than two years away from the stage and an extensive global search, legendary hard rock band SKID ROW has officially announced Broadway alum Justin Sargent as the new lead singer, ushering in an exciting new era as the band celebrates its 40th anniversary. And in a fitting twist of fate, after searching around the world, SKID ROW found their new voice right where it all began — in their home state of New Jersey.
Sargent first caught the attention of the band last year. His powerful vocals, commanding stage presence, and natural connection to the music immediately stood out. What followed were months of conversations, rehearsals, and time spent together, ultimately confirming that the band had found not just a new singer, but a brother-in-arms.
SKID ROW bassist Rachel Bolan comments: "Honestly, for me, it felt like he had been here from the beginning as soon as he walked in the room. He was one of us. A lifer. Then he sang with so much power and conviction, it blew me away. It was amazing."
SKID ROW guitarist Dave "Snake" Sabo states: "We were so fortunate to receive so many audition submissions from singers wanting to front the band. We wanna thank everyone for their time and effort. There are some truly amazing singers out there! But I think that the moment Justin walked in the door we all kind of knew he was the guy. Everything about him; his voice, his attitude, his demeanor, it all just fit. We can't wait to hit the ground running and get back to doing what we love to do."
Sargent said: "I've been singing SKID ROW songs for years, but never imagined I'd actually be joining the band! It's an incredible honor to be part of something with such a legendary history. The chemistry and energy we've found together over the past several months has been amazing. I have tremendous respect for the band's legacy, but I'm even more excited about what lies ahead. I can't wait to get out there, connect with the fans, and give them everything I've got. Let's go!"
Sargent is a singer and actor who has starred on Broadway as Peter Parker in "Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark" (music by Bono and The Edge),Drew in the mega hit rock musical "Rock Of Ages", and was in the original Broadway cast of "Bonnie & Clyde".
Born in Murphysboro Illinois and raised in Florida, Justin has been performing since high school. Since he graduated, he has been lucky enough to make a living doing what he loves. He has performed alongside music legends like John Legend, Alice Cooper, Sara Bareilles, Dee Snider, Kip Winger, Graham Russell, and has been a guest singer with the band AIR SUPPLY. Justin has toured the country singing everything from QUEEN to Andrew Lloyd Webber. His TV/film appearances include "Jesus Christ Superstar: Live" on NBC, "Law & Order: SVU", "Mr. Robot", "Delocated", "Royal Pains" and more.
The announcement follows an extensive worldwide search that attracted overwhelming interest from singers across the globe. Earlier this year, SKID ROW partnered with leading music retailer Sweetwater to further extend the search and engage the global music community.
The band extends its thanks to everyone who submitted performances and supported the journey. The response from musicians and fans around the world was nothing short of extraordinary.
To celebrate the announcement, SKID ROW has unleashed a powerful new recording of the classic THE WHO anthem "Won't Get Fooled Again", accompanied by an electrifying new music video. The track serves as both an introduction to SKID ROW's new frontman Sargent and a bold statement of intent as the band looks toward the future.
Produced and recorded by Grammy Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (FOO FIGHTERS, RUSH, HALESTORM, ALICE IN CHAINS),the recording reunites SKID ROW with the acclaimed producer behind the band's 2022 studio album, "The Gang's All Here".
With its explosive energy, unmistakable riffs, and powerhouse vocals, SKID ROW's interpretation of "Won't Get Fooled Again" pays tribute to one of rock's most influential bands while bringing the group's own signature intensity to the timeless anthem.
SKID ROW guitarist Scotti Hill comments: "'Won't Get Fooled Again' is one of those songs that no matter how many times you hear it on the radio you always turn it up and listen. Anything by THE WHO is top shelf in my book, but 'Won't Get Fooled Again' is an anthem of generations."
SKID ROW drummer Rob Hammersmith says: "'Won't Get Fooled Again' isn't just about making noise — it's about setting a standard and making a statement: two rock 'n' roll elements THE WHO helped write the book on. Standing on the shoulders of these giants is the ultimate launchpad to signal a loud, unapologetic new era for us!"
The accompanying music video was directed by acclaimed filmmaker Dale "Rage" Resteghini (FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, GUNS N' ROSES, ALTER BRIDGE). Known for capturing visceral performances and creating striking, high-impact visuals, Resteghini delivers a video showcasing the energy, chemistry, and excitement of SKID ROW's new lineup.
"Won't Get Fooled Again" will also be released as a limited, hand-signed seven-inch single. Pre-orders start today. The single is strictly limited to 500 copies worldwide.

Singer Erik Grönwall exited SKID ROW two and a half years ago. The now-38-year-old Swedish-born musician, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in March 2021, announced his departure from SKID ROW in March 2024, saying that it had become increasingly "difficult to prioritize" his health and full recovery as the lead singer of the group.
Erik was SKID ROW's fourth frontman since Sebastian Bach's departure.
Bach fronted SKID ROW until 1996, when he was fired. Instead of throwing in the towel, the remaining members took a hiatus and went on to play briefly in a band called OZONE MONDAY. In 1999, SKID ROW reformed and, after a bit of shuffling over the years, featured a lineup consisting of bassist Rachel Bolan, guitarists Dave "Snake" Sabo and Scotti Hill, alongside drummer Rob Hammersmith and singer Johnny Solinger. SKID ROW fired Solinger over the phone in April 2015, a few hours before announcing ex-TNT vocalist Tony Harnell as his replacement. Eight months later, Harnell exited the band and was replaced by South African-born, British-based singer ZP Theart, who previously fronted DRAGONFORCE, TANK and I AM I. Theart was fired from SKID ROW in February 2022 and was replaced by Grönwall, who was previously a member of the Swedish hard rock band H.E.A.T.
Six years ago, Bolan confirmed that he and his bandmates "were entertaining the idea" of reuniting with Bach following Harnell's departure. But Rachel shot down the possibility of a rekindling of his friendship with Sebastian, explaining: "Well… Here's the soundbite for Blabbermouth. I wouldn't say we were friends [when we were in a band together]. We were bandmates. You know what I mean? We're two very different people." Bolan added that he hadn't seen Bach "in years."
Seven years ago, Bach was asked by Rolling Stone what it would take for SKID ROW to be reunited. He responded: "It would take those guys to realize that I have a lifetime manager. His name is Rick Sales. I've been with him since 2006. They don't want to deal with a guy like that. They want to give some singer who doesn't have a manager $700 to $800 bucks a week. I've got a team that's worked with me and don't allow me to get fucked around. I didn't have that team when I was 19 years old."In response to Bach's statements about the earnings of SKID ROW's singer, Sabo told Rolling Stone in an e-mail: "I guess fact-checking isn't in his skill set… The five of us go on that stage as a band and we all get paid equally. We're in this together. There's no egos."
Sebastian went on to say that SKID ROW was "close to reuniting, but then it didn't happen. The fact that it didn't happen obviously makes me somewhat bitter, because life is only getting shorter, as the song says," he added.
"I wouldn't say 'came close,'" Bolan told Rolling Stone in an e-mail response to Bach's account of the reunion talks. "We entertained the idea. Snake and I went as far as talking with agents and promoters about money. But we quickly learned after a few text conversations, why we fired him in the first place. Nothing is worth your happiness and peace of mind."
