SKINLAB: Raw, Brutal And Straight To The Point!

June 25, 2003

SKINLAB frontman Steev Esquivel has posted the following update to the group's official web site:

"Hey, hey ya'll, time to drop some more news.

"Tons going on in the SKINLAB camp. We've been busy trying to get everything together for the next release, 'The Nerve Damage Sessions'... At first, the idea was to put out a EP to help sustain the 'buzz' while we were on downtime/writing/healing. But somewhere in stride we decided it might be best to release a full record or possibly even a double record!! We had so many tracks that have never been heard by our fans that we feel we can put out a killer collaboration of tunes that we'll be able stand behind.

"We're done recording two new songs, 'Beneath The Surface' and 'Losing All' (formerly 'Nerve Damage') + acoustic version of 'Purify'. We're still deciding on what tracks to use from the [original] Steve Evetts [mixing sessions for 'The Revolting Room'], they all sound pretty damn cool after not hearing them for so long. It's gonna be hard to decide what to use.

"Video: OK, as far as the video. We shot a video for 'Losing All' ('Nerve Damage') instead of 'Come Get It'. Reason being... Well, we feel that we've lived out 'Revolting Room' for a year and a half before it was released. We are very proud of that album and what we're able to accomplish with it. But... it's time to move forward. Editing began this week. We should have something posted in the next week or two.

"Live recording: We're done mixing the live portion of 'Nerve Damage'. Six songs captured from the 420 Musik Conspiracy [festival]... 'Slave The Way', 'Purify', 'No Sympathy For The Devil', 'Pain Comes To Surface', 'Come Get It', and 'Scapegoat'. The shit sound fucking raw, brutal and straight to the point!!

"Video game: Both 'Losing All' and 'Beneath The Surface' will be featured on the upcoming 'Fallout' game. Looks like the guys over at Interplay like the new material so much they decided to use 'em both!! Also... keep your eyes peeled for Playstation magazine to get a sneak preview CD of 'Fallout: Brotherhood Of Steel' and 'Beneath The Surface' [with the] July/August issue.........

"Tours: Plans for one more tour in support of 'Revolting Room/Nerve Damage' are in the works as well, we're just sorting out the details for the record, then we'll be looking to get on the road October/ November. For now we have some killer shows that we're psyched to play. We'll be testing out some new material as well as some older songs that have been requested by our fans through email and on our message board.

"That's it for now, we're off to Australia to kick some fuckin ass!

"See You In The Pit, SteevSKINLAB"

In other news, a recent interview with Steev conducted by Australia's Beat magazine has been posted online at this location.
