SLASH Interviewed On Virginia's FM99 (Video)

September 20, 2010

FM99 WNOR's "Rumble in the Morning" intern The Clap and "rock girl" Lindsay conducted separate interviews with Slash before the legendary VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist's September 18, 2010 performance at the NorVa in Norfolk, Virginia. Watch the footage below.

As previously reported, Slash told that the search for a new frontman for VELVET REVOLVER will resume in October after he finishes his current solo tour, also insisting that his touring vocalist, Myles Kennedy, will not take the job. Kennedy will return to his band ALTER BRIDGE next month, while Slash will take the remaining months of 2010 to work on new music and go through audition tapes. VELVET REVOLVER has been dormant since April 2008, when the band dismissed original frontman Scott Weiland.

Slash told The Pulse of Radio that the band's status hasn't changed since. "Everybody asks the same question: 'Where are you with that?'" he said. "It's really, we're nowhere until we can find somebody who can do that job. Very quietly I've had my ears to the pavement, trying to see if there's anybody that fits that bill, and it's got to be somebody really good, 'cause I don't want to rush into it out of desperation. I want to wait 'til I get the right person."

As for the possibility of enlisting Kennedy, Slash told, "Kennedy is still committed to ALTER BRIDGE. I don't want to be the guy responsible for breaking up a band. But we'll find someone. Maybe not somebody known, but some kind of local hero."

Kennedy had actually been approached to sing for VELVET REVOLVER back in the early days of the group, and again after they parted ways with Weiland, but turned down the offer both times.

Slash and his touring band are on the road behind Slash's self-titled solo debut, which features lead vocals from Kennedy, Chris Cornell, Iggy Pop, Ozzy Osbourne and others. The tour stops in Atlanta on Monday night (September 20) and wraps on October 6 in Los Angeles.
