SLAVES ON DOPE Guitarist: MUSHROOMHEAD Ripped Us Off!

September 3, 2003

SLAVES ON DOPE guitarist Kevin Jardine has dropped us a brief note to let us know that he believes Cleveland's MUSHROOMHEAD "stole our idea to cover 'Crazy' from SEAL. We were at the same management firm when we did the demos for [the new SLAVES ON DOPE album] 'Metafour' with [producer] Troy [Van Leeuwen, A PERFECT CIRCLE, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE] and if you check the [news archives] you'll see that the song was listed for our record," Kevin writes. "I guess [MUSHROOMHEAD] liked what we did... We were gonna re-press the record with a DVD for x-mas with remixes and a few bonus tracks, but I guess now we'll hold off until we hear their version [which will appear on MUSHROOMHEAD's new album, 'XIII']. I'll probably post it on our site in the next few days....for a limited time of course."

SLAVES ON DOPE are currently touring in support of "Metafour", which was released in June through Bieler Bros./MCA Records. The follow-up to 2000's "Inches From The Mainline" was recorded in Boca Raton, Florida with producers Van Leeuwen and Jason Slater (SNAKE RIVER CONSPIRACY, EARSHOT).
