SLAYER Apologizes For Scandinavian Concert Cancellations

SLAYER has issued a statement regarding the cancellation of its previously announced appearances at this year's Ruisrock (which will be held July 6-7 in Turku, Finland) and Roskilde (set to take place July 5-8 in Roskilde, Denmark) festivals.

Says the band: "The members of SLAYER want all of their fans in Scandinavia to know how disappointed they are not to be coming there to play the Ruisrock and Roskilde festivals. Scandinavia has always been a particularly favorite part of the world to all four members of the band, and the support of their fans there really does mean a lot. If there were a way that SLAYER could play these two festivals in July, they would, but unfortunately, no matter how hard their team has tried to refashion the band's schedule, it just can't be worked out. SLAYER looks forward to returning to Scandinavia very soon and sincerely thanks their fans for their understanding."

Celebrating its 26th year together, the always-uncompromising SLAYER was recently named "Best Live Band" in SPIN's 2006 Readers' Poll, and picked up their first Grammy Award in February for "Best Metal Performance." Their latest album, "Christ Illusion" — which debuted at #5 on Billboard's album chart — takes on the U.S. government about the War in Iraq, prompting one newspaper to speculate, "If Thomas Jefferson were alive today, he undoubtedly would be listening to SLAYER."

SLAYER and MARILYN MANSON will co-headline a North American major-market summer tour beginning on July 25 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
