SLAYER Guitarist KERRY KING Featured In New WITCHERY Video

July 15, 2010

"Witchkrieg", the new video from Swedish metallers WITCHERY, can be viewed below. The clip, which was shot in early May in Stockholm, Sweden, was filmed, directed and produced by Daniel Larrson and AT THE GATES/THE HAUNTED guitarist Anders Björler (At The Gates Productions). Additional scenes featuring Kerry King of SLAYER were filmed in early June in London, England.

Commented WITCHERY guitarist Jensen: "Thank God I'm not a huge fan of METALLICA. I am a huge fan of SLAYER, though, and Kerry agreed to do a guest solo for the new WITCHERY album AND to appear in the video. James [Hetfield] would never have done anything like that."

Jensen met Kerry in 1999 on the first WITCHERY U.S. tour in Los Angeles after a show at the Whisky A Go Go. "He came on our bus and we partied," Jensen remembers. "At 6 o'clock in the morning we were the only ones still awake. We played air guitar while listening to old RAINBOW records. At the Roskilde Festival in Denmark I bumped into him again. I played him the song, he listened to it three times straight and said, 'Yeah, I'll do it.'"

"Witchkrieg" is the title track of WITCHERY's new album, which sold around 600 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 84 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Witchkrieg" was released on June 21 in Europe and June 29 in North America via Century Media Records. The CD was mixed and mastered Antfarm studios by Tue Madsen (DARK TRANQUILLITY, THE HAUNTED, HEAVEN SHALL BURN). The cover artwork, which can be viewed below, was created by Andreas "Diaz" Pettersson.

"Witchkrieg" features additional guest appearances by Andy La Rocque (KING DIAMOND),Hank Shermann (MERCYFUL FATE, FORCE OF EVIL, DEMONICA) and Jim Durkin (DARK ANGEL).

WITCHERY's lineup reads like the who's-who of Swedish metal: Guitarist Jensen plays with THE HAUNTED; lead axeman Rickard Rimfält rocks for SÉANCE; bass player Sharlee D’Angelo is in charge of the low end in ARCH ENEMY and SPIRITUAL BEGGARS; while drummer Martin "Axe" Axenrot pounds the skins for OPETH and BLOODBATH.

"Witchkrieg" marks the recording debut of new WITCHERY vocalist Legion (ex-MARDUK, DEVIAN).
